About the zoo …
A variety of delicious snacks and freshly made meals are available at the cafes, kiosks and main eatery. The menus offer gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan and vegetarian options.
The zoo is using sustainable building materials and aims to set new benchmarks in energy and water use. It is helping conserve the local environment through a number of initiatives
Sydney Zoo aims to become the world's finest energy independent zoo through development of a solar power networkr. They will also capture and recycle storm water run-off for use in the moats and gardens area. All animal and food waste is composted in the aim to become a zero-waste space, and they use biodegradable cornstarch packaging.
The zoo has partnered with Western Sydney University to develop conservation research projects across energy efficiency, water management and animal welfare
It has a commitment to a 10% full time equivalent Aboriginal employment target, hoping to include the local Aboriginal community as much as possible.
