Speaker Night
Australian Plants
Essential Information for Tour Guides
It takes time and experience to learn about Australian plants and be able to identify plants you see when out and about.
Jennifer Farrer, from Boronia Tours, has been guiding in Sydney for 20 years, she specialises in walks highlighting Australia's unique flora in Sydney parks and bushland reserves. Jennifer is a member of the Australian Plants Society for 40 years and was on IATG Committee for 4 years (2015-2019).
Learn about identifying features such as distinctive leaves, flowers, fruit, oil glands or aroma. Find out about plants used by the Aborigines and early settlers. You'll wonder at the amazing diversity of Australia's unique flora.
