IATG invites you to join NSW Art Gallery 'State of the Art' Private Tour

About this event

Join us for three hour tour and exploration of the NSW Art Gallery.

Starting with a private tour that will share The State of the Art experience: you’ll get to know the secrets of Sydney’s most exciting new architectural landmark, the Art Gallery’s SAANA, and encounter one-of-a-kind artworks created especially for the expansion.

You'll have time for some independent exploration of the gallery. Time to check out new exhibitions like Dreamhome: Stories of Art and Shelter, Making Worlds, Outlaw and Adrián Villar Rojas: The End of Imagination. Stay on after to chat more with other guides, enjoy lunch MOD (at own expense), that has views to Woolloomooloo Bay.

The State of the Art

Who are the giant figures that greet visitors in the Welcome Plaza? How was a former oil tank turned into a gallery space?

The new building almost doubles the space for exhibitions and features different types of spaces for new ways of thinking and new forms of art. Architectural features include three limestone-clad art pavilions that gently step down towards the harbour; and a double-height atrium in the centre of the building reaching over 11 metres at its highest point. The vision has been to transform the Art Gallery into an art museum campus with seamless connections between art, architecture and landscape. It is the first public art museum in Australia to achieve a 6-star Green Star design rating.

Cost

The tour cost is $34 for Professional and $44 for Affiliates [No refunds available]
