Duration: Two hours

Cost: Free.

  • Built by the Sydney City Council to replace the George St Markets, it hosted Sydney’s Central Markets for just 12 years.
  • Built outside the main Pitt St retail area, the building struggled to find tenants to fill its grand spaces.
  • Threatened with demolition in the 1960’s the building was saved for posterity by an inspired restoration which converted it to a successful shopping centre whilst retaining its heritage character.
  • The QVB celebrated its 120th anniversary last year
  • The famil will include a one hour history tour followed by morning tea in the Victoria Room and a briefing on management’s plans for new tours of the QVB and The Strand.
