From WWII special forces raider to the last of the big gun ships: A fascinating glimpse into Australia’s naval history by exploring key vessels in the Australian National Maritime Museum’s collection. It traces the evolution of naval warfare through remarkable ships that served in pivotal roles. Stirling Smith, archaeologist and heritage practitioner specialising in maritime archaeology, military and polar heritage.
Fungi from freaky to fabulous: More than just mushrooms, discover about the delightful and deadly world of this special group of diverse organisms. History of Sydney Ferries: Tracing their evolution to the ferries vital role in the Sydney for over two centuries. From their inception as a crucial link between settlements, through their golden age before the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Arthur Pearce, developed an early love for travelling on the Manly Ferry, especially the older steam-powered vessels. He began his career as an electrical apprentice at Cockatoo Island, working on ship construction and maintenance, and continued in the trade for many years.
